This is a bit late because I slept in kind of a lot. And this week’s glimpse is verrry slim indeed as I was sick and didn’t go to school except for Friday where I and my cohort along with about 50 other people sat down and listened to the venerated Leonard Marcus talk about Maurice Sendak, Ursula Nordstrom and other people I don’t remember. You don’t know Maurice Sendak, you say? Well, let me refresh your memory.
Yeah? Anyway, that’s the dude who wrote Where the Wild Things Are which is perhaps one of the funnest picture books to exist – it is certainly one of the cleverest. Anyway, Leonard Marcus is a children’s literature critic and he was here to share some words about Maurice Sendak amongst other things. It was interesting. There were cheese and crackers.
My friend got me a pineapple for a favor done. I present to you my newest friend until I eat it:
And I’m totally talking about the pineapple and not my friend in green, Megan, who gifted me with the pineapple. She’s reading The Book Thief if you’re curious. I’m reading it too actually. I have two days to finish it and Ramona and her Father for classes. Ah, I love that I get to read kids books for class. *beam*
I went on an adventure for Ramona actually. With my sister in law. See, I had not realized that Ramona is supposed to be read by next Wednesday so I didn’t have the book. None of the libraries near me had it neither did Chapters and there is no other book store nearby (well there may be but there’s no guarantee that they carry it). So my sister in law kindly agreed to take me to Surrey Central Library. This involved driving in the rain, navigating through a patch of gravel and woods and an umbrella that was sacrificed to the wind. But we made it and dudes, the library…*swoon* The library so SO BEAUTIFUL.
They have a huge YA section but I was determined to restrain myself because I have an insane amount of reading to do already – all those review copies plus school reading makes for a very exhausted Nafiza. But I couldn’t resist and grabbed a couple of books including the Ramona book I had been hunting originally.
Well yes, that’s what I carry in my bag. Why else would I carry such a large bag around? *cheese* Anyway. This is all there is for this week. I was going to talk a lot more about the Isaac Marion brouhaha but I think I shall save it for a later time. I have things to do! I hope you enjoyed this week’s craziness.

Okay, I would spend, like, ALL DAY in that library. So awesome!
I’m going to one of these days. There’s also a cafe in it!
Even better! The library in the town where I went to Grad School also had a cafe; I was a long-distance student, though, so never really got a chance to peruse its shelves or spend lots of time there, which was a bummer. I’d love to see more pictures if you do find time to walk around it!
That library structurally resembles an orgasm. Jussayin.
Haha. Groovy.
