Find Momo is a delightful collection of photographs that feature the titular Momo hiding somewhere in them and the reader is then invited to “find Momo.” Andrew Knapp is an instagram sensation who travels America on his yellow bus with his canine buddy, Momo, as his companion. He photographs Momo in interesting places and shares the result (and the puzzle of the hidden Momo) with the world. I “read” the book twice, once to find Momo in each of the photographs so I could get it out of my system and once again to savour the photographs for themselves. The pictures are expansive, featuring landscapes and other expanses of land, suburbias and someone’s cluttered front yard. The depth and precision are interesting and though the focus or the goal of the photographs is to give Momo the most tricky hiding place, I found myself pleasantly charmed by the whimsical nature of the photographs.
The book would make a wonderful gift for any dog lover and it is a fun book to flip through on separate occasions trying to “find Momo” in all the pictures. I enjoyed reading the little details and anecdotes that accompanied some of the pictures at the end and only wish there had been more of it as these provided a glimpse into the process and the journey. Still, I recommend the book to you and invite you to go “find Momo.”
