Know that eternal new year’s resolution? To exercise more and eat healthier? Yeah? Well, David Bez’s splendid cook book Salad Love will help you keep to at least the eating healthy part of the resolutions. The book is prefaced by a section that deconstructs a salad into its parts and spends some time discussing the types of dressings that go with each kind of salad.
The recipes themselves are divided by seasons into four sections–and this is something I loved–and the salad for each season takes into account the types of appetites evoked by the season. You know, in winter you feel hungrier (well I do anyway) and stuff like that. The recipes themselves are very easy to follow and since there are so many of them, you can take your time changing things around to suit your tastes. Colourful pictures of beautifully arranged salads accompany each recipe and whet the appetites long before the first vegetable has been washed.
If you’re looking to spice up your healthy eating, I recommend this collection.
